In Memory of Cecy Gaitho and Wisdom Martin Gaitho

We all agree that Cecy's was one of the most heartbreaking kenya suicide case in recent times.

But: Picture this,

You're raised in a strictly religious home, but by a very unbalanced and violent father.
In fact, the terror visited on your mom by your Dad is so intense that it makes all your siblings swear off marriage for life. Some become nuns and other kinds of religious fanatics.
You're the smart girl, and you excel in school.
So as soon as you start working, the entire home's financial burdens become your own.
You struggle to keep afloat, self abandonment becomes your pattern as the demands never end.
Then, unknowingly, you replicate this pattern of abandonment in your love life.
Now you are left with a child to raise. He becomes your reason to live, your only hope.
Until one day the worst imaginable thing happens. It hits you in the worst way because, your child is no more 💔😭
It doesn't end there. Your colleagues come together and contribute towards the baby's burial and your well-being.
Your family fixates their eyes on that bag-that money for your child's funeral, they want it by all means possible.
A struggle here, a little attempt to put your foot down, and you manage to give your baby a beautiful final resting place.
Then you try to heal, go for the meetings. The family has vanished- you're only valuable when you're bringing in money.
You spiral on the one night your friend isn't present.
You put a Jiko in your room.
Then...when they find you lifeless
They tell the world,
It is the spirit of hypertension that is plaguing their home. And it should be rebuked in Jesus name.
Not the generational trauma causing suicide- nobody would want to look at themselves in the mirror..so the demons and satan get the blame for bringing hypertension in the home.
Your same team of colleagues collects hundreds of thousands for your funeral.
And do you know who pockets it?
The same people who broke you and abandoned you when you were literary on your knees.
The same dysfunctional system that made you lose interest in living.
We Need to Talk.
