Why Do People Commit Suicide? 3 Things You should Know

Do you guys remember a story carried by the Standard about I a guy climbing up a high-voltage electrical pole and electrocuting himself?

There was also a video with all those people screaming and others telling him to do it and stop stressing them?
Now, understand this:
1. Suicide is the epitome of destroying your body-

It is the final way to wreck your body permanently. The highest level of self destruction.
If you watched that video to the end-his face and body burned almost to a crisp.
Why do people choose to destroy their body?
Simple-because they have disociated from it-as in something has happened to you and forced you to disconnect from your body.
In simple language: Ni kama haurumii mwili wako yani.
If someone told you right now to touch a 2000Volt power line, you will wince at the thought because unahurumia mwili wako. (You are integrated with your body-mind and body are on the same page)
So another thing about suicide is that the problem does not start a few hours before the act-dissociation starts from childhood, when you experience adverse/traumatic events.
Mostly, when someone repeatedly violates your body through physical violence. Again-Wacheni kuchapa watoto.
Your subconscious mind learns that the body is the 'problem' and distances itself from the body and its processes.
That's why EVERYONE who commits suicide comes from a home with either physical or emotional abuse.
Remember, even negative comments about your body like being told you're ugly repeatedly can lead to dissociation.
Which explains why so many teenage girls commit suicide after bullying connected to their physical appearance.
So, again-our good friend Trauma rears its ugly face here.
Now, someone with suicide ideation will try and try again-unless they pursue healing that helps them integrate their body (waanze kujipenda na kujihurumia)

2. Wrong Attitudes on Suicide Lead to its Prevalence

Now, when that man climbed all the way up there and touched those poles, so many comments went like this:
"True hero, so courageous. He went out like a soldier,"
That right there illustrates how little we understand suicide.
A fairly integrated person would have climbed a few meters, looked down and imagined the pain they would feel if they slipped and fell, and climbed back down.
Walking away from the temptation to commit suicide is not being a wimp-its being almost whole psychologically.
If we will tackle suicide-we need to change community perception about these acts.
Courage is facing the trauma that led to dissociation and integrating it.

3. Suicide has a co-dependency aspect
How?
You're using your body or the destruction of your body to try and get others to feel or act a certain way.
"Wakipata nimekufa watajua umuhimu wangu,"
"Wakiona nimejikata nikableed watajua wameniumiza na wabadilike,"
Some even cut themselves and take photos- a subconscious attempt to guilt-trip people.
Those are deeply manipulative thought patterns that have crossed over to the next level.
Your worth should always be intrinsic. It shouldn't be derived from how others love or treat you.
This aspect of suicide can be summarized this way:-I can use my body as a tool to manipulate others.
This is why there was something going around about someone ending their life and saying-
"Watakuja kuomba msamaha kwa kaburi yangu,"
That's basically co-dependency taking you to the grave because-
Mtu kama hataki kusema pole, you should raise the middle vinger and live as if they are dead to you, not self destruct hoping for a sorry.
